Pulau Karah or Pulau Kapak is a very small island situated south of Bidong Island and closer to the main land of Terengganu. This tiny Island is unpopulated and just about 1 kilometer from Bidong Island.
This Island is another beauty that possessed the great underwater life, corals, fishes and other inhabitants.

This small Island has its own beach too though not so long or wide, but enough to cater a group of visitors in between 20 to 30 persons to enjoy here.
Small group of visitors are not encourage to stay overnight unless they are armed sufficiently (with license of course) and with a valid permit or approval from local authority.
The beach of Karah Island is also a popular place for the turtle of Penyu Karah to lay their eggs. Some visitors from main land will come to this island solely for the purpose of watching turtles lay eggs and then steal those eggs for own use or even for sale.
Turtle eggs are expensive as the egg is believed to have contained some materials which empowering man's sexual performance. Eight fresh turtle eggs are sold at RM20 in Pasar Payang , Kuala Terengganu. So, if one can capture 5 turtles laying eggs, he will have plenty of cash for the sale of turtle eggs.

Just like other islands in Malaysia, this tiny island is also a popular destination for scuba divers and snorkelers.
Since this island is a popular destination for the Penyu Karah, then it will be a usual occasion for a diver to run into this species during his diving. Even a snorkeler may have a chance to swim over this creature.
So, apart from visiting Bidong Island, perhaps a visitor may try to explore Karah Island too for a 1 day trip.
